House of the Dragon Already Renewed for Season 2 - Everything We Know So Far

House of The Dragon Season 3 Begins Filming in March 2025

House of The Dragon season 3 will begin filming in early 2025 – more specifically, it will begin filming in March next year. The series is expected to end with the fourth season, making it considerably shorter than Game of Thrones. However, after the big plot developments of the first two seasons, it makes sense for the spin-off series to fully tell its story and wrap it up in a shorter time span.

As reported by Winteriscoming.net, season 3 of House of The Dragon will finally begin filming in March 2025 with a release planned for sometime in 2026. While the March filming month is just a rumour, the site has verified the information with what it’s heard about filming commencing in “earlyish 2025”. The first season of the show released in 2022 followed by the second season earlier this year. A two-year gap between seasons is on par with most TV shows these days, especially those with a bigger budget that require VFX work.

Season 2 ended off on a few cliffhangers. Cristin Cole and his army march on the Riverlands towards Daemon Targaryen, while a fleet of Triarchy ships sail for Dragonstone to attack Rhaenyra Targaryen’s stronghold. On that note, Rhaenyra also trained a few new dragonriders and now has a dragon large enough to stand toe-to-toe (or wing-to-wing?) with Aemond’s intimidatingly massive dragon, Vhagar. We’ll have to see how this impending war unfolds when season 3 arrives next year.

In related news, the Game of Thrones spin-off revolving around Jon Snow might happen after all. HBO chief Casey Bloys told press “maybe we’ll try again” during an HBO preview event last month. A few months before that, the spin-off seemed all but shelved as actor Kit Harington didn’t even know if it would still happen. Hopefully it does end up moving forward and serve as a worthy sequel to Game of Thrones, even if all the players aren’t involved.
