Huawei has announced its new flagship P40 Pro smartphone and while it packs a load of impressive hardware, the device lacks important Google services such as Google Maps, the Play Store, and Gmail. Instead, the Huawei P40, Pro and P40 Pro+ makes use of an open-source version of Android without all the core features that are tied to the Google services. The company has its own store of apps that are now Huawei-branded and meant to replace those popular Google apps.

The lack of Google support makes the Huawei P40 Pro a tough sell as it could lead to a load of limitations in software and of course, the lack of support from your favourite apps. That aside, let’s take a look at the new Huawei P40 Pro and P40 Pro+.
Both devices feature a curved display around all four edges of the screen including the top and bottom edges too. The display is described as a Quad Curve Display with a 19.8: aspect ratio. The P40 Pro features a 6.1-inch OLED super high-resolution 2640×1200 441 ppi display. As for the P40 Pro+, it also packs the same resolution but also has a 90Hz refresh rate.
Both models are also Huawei’s own system on a chip, the Kirin 990 that supports 5G and is apparently 23% faster on the CPU front and 39% faster in terms of the GPU.
The camera system is quite impressive too. The Huawei P40 P40 Pro+ has four different camera modules and a time-of-flight sensor, an ultra-wide 18mm lens, a normal 23mm lens, a 3x 80mm lens, and a super periscope lens with 10x optical zoom.

All phones will come with 8GB of RAM with 128GB and 256GB storage options. There’s also a 512GB P40 Pro+ model that will cost €1,399.
Of course, there’s no local pricing and release date for these devices yet. They will most likely be very limited given the current state of the world. We will update you when we learn more. In the meantime, take a look at the full specs down below;
