The ICON Comic & Games Convention 2024 is taking place this weekend in Johannesburg. The event marks the first ICON convention since 2019 and the theme of “Old Skool” means the event is going back to its roots.
ICON 2024 kicks off on Friday, 5 July and runs until Sunday 7 July. The event is taking place at the Crawford International School in Lonehill Johannesburg and tickets start at R100 for a Day Pass. You can also pick up a Weekend Pass for R250 and Comedy Night tickets for R125. Kids under 6 are free.
ICON is South Africa’s premier convention celebrating the vibrant worlds of gaming, comics, and popular culture! Established in 1992, ICON has grown into the largest and longest-running event of its kind in the country, drawing fans, creators, and enthusiasts from across the nation and beyond.
If you have attended any past ICON events, you would know the days are filled with cosplay, board games, card games, tabletop games, comedy and geek shopping. Not to mention the passionate local communities that rally together to celebrate all things games and comics.
