Indiana Jones and The Great Circle from MachineGames will apparently feature nearly four hours of cutscenes – the longest ever for the Wolfenstein developer. Naturally, the video game is based on an extremely popular movie franchise so it makes sense to have lengthy cutscenes that are reminiscent of the movies. Hideo Kojima would be very proud.
MachineGames’ creative director Axel Torvenius recently appeared on the MinnMax podcast to talk about Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, offering some new information about the game ahead of its December release. According to Torvenius, MachineGames put a lot of work into the cutscenes for the game, amounting to “roughly three hours and 45 or 40 minutes or something along those lines.” He added that it’s “the biggest and longest game that MachineGames have ever done.”
Torvenius also revealed that the storyline for Indiana Jones and The Great Circle remains unchanged from the original pitch that Bethesda director Todd Howard made to George Lucas back in 2009. Furthermore, stealth missions won’t result in an instant fail if you’re caught. This is something that several players complained about with Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws, which only recently got fixed in a patch.
In other news, Bethesda released 15 minutes of brand-new gameplay for Indiana Jones and The Great Circle earlier this month, showing more exploration and combat. Despite launching on Xbox Series X/S and PC first, Bethesda also confirmed that the game will head to PS5 in early 2025.
The game description reads:
“Uncover one of history’s greatest mysteries in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a first-person, single-player adventure set between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. The year is 1937, sinister forces are scouring the globe for the secret to an ancient power connected to the Great Circle, and only one person can stop them – Indiana Jones. You’ll become the legendary archaeologist in this cinematic action-adventure game from MachineGames, the award-winning studio behind the recent Wolfenstein series, and executive produced by Hall of Fame game designer Todd Howard.”
Indiana Jones and The Great Circle launches on 9 December 2024 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
