Indiana Jones and The Great Circle Troy Baker Bethesda

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle PS5 Physical Version May Require Internet to Download

Earlier this month, the PS5 release date for Indiana Jones and The Great Circle from Wolfenstein developer MachineGames leaked, pointing to an April release. With April fast approaching, it’s only a matter of time until publisher Bethesda makes an official announcement. However, leaks about the PS5 version have dripped online and it seems like the physical version might require an internet connection in order to download the game and its content.

According to reliable leaker billbil-kun, who originally leaked the release date of the PS5 version, the full Indiana Jones and The Great Circle PS5 game won’t come on the disc. Instead, as we’ve seen it all too well before, the disc will simply be a licence to let you download the game’s content. This essentially means that you’ll need an internet connection for the physical version as the full game will need to be downloaded.

“To address the most frequently asked question, both the Standard & Premium Editions of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will include a PS5 disc,” said billbil-kun on X. “However, an Internet connection will still be required to download the game and its content.”

As many commenters pointed out, this almost defeats the purpose of buying a physical disc to begin with. Considering that the game’s download size, at least on Xbox Series X/S, is a whopping 133GB, it’s quite a big ask for physical owners who just want to enjoy the game fresh off the disc – maybe some are prepared to handle a few updates, but certainly not the full game download.

We’ll have to wait for Bethesda to make an official announcement on the matter, so take this with a pinch of salt so long. In the meantime, you can play Indiana Jones and The Great Circle on Xbox Series X/S and PC as well as Game Pass.
