Insomniac Games Starts Mo-Cap Recording For Marvel’s Wolverine

Marvel’s Wolverine is still quite a while away from releasing. The game is expected to launch sometime in 2024 for PS5 and by the look of things, Insomniac Games is on track with the development of the project. According to the Lead Animator on the game, mo-cap sessions are now underway.

Mike Yosh posted an image on Twitter last night that contained a photo taken inside Insomniac Games’ mo-cap studio. Well, technically it is actually Sony’s mo-cap studio. One which the company uses for its first-party games and also outsources to other developers for other projects.

The mo-cap studio is used to capture the game’s animations including fighting, cinematics and general movement. Insomniac Games previously announced that the studio would shift its focus onto motion capture only later in a game’s development after the full game script is done for the game. This is a good sign that the Marvel’s Wolverine script might be completed and the game’s development is now fully underway.

Keep in mind that Mike Yosh’s tweet could relate to any Insomniac Games title that the studio is working on. However, Yosh is the lead animator on Marvel’s Wolverine project so this tweet is clearly an announcement of motion capture kicking off.

Insomniac Games is also working on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which is set to launch next year. This means we most likely won’t see Marvel’s Wolverine until 2024. The company is also currently hiring for a new multiplayer project that has yet to be announced.
