Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 4 reportedly won’t release in 2026. Both games were announced at The Game Awards last year, giving fans a glimpse at the next projects from two of the biggest game developers in the industry. Unfortunately, it seems like it will be a while before both games release.
According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who has a very reputable and solid track record, fans shouldn’t expect Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet or The Witcher 4 to arrive in 2026. “I’m pretty sure I said they were both going to be very early teases. Neither of those games will be out next year,” said Schreier, replying to a comment on Reset Era.
Neither Naughty Dog nor CD Projekt Red actually gave release dates or windows for their titles, their announcements only accompanied by a cinematic trailer so far, so it’s understandable that these projects are still quite far off from release. As for when we can expect them to arrive is anyone’s guess, though most fans are optimistic that we’ll see the titles in either 2027 or 2028, possibly aligning with the launch of the next generation of consoles too.
Neither Naughty Dog nor CD Projekt Red have released a game yet in this generation, which is telling for how long AAA video games now take to develop. Cyberpunk 2077 was technically playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S but we wouldn’t see a proper current-gen version until much later as it targeted the PS4 and Xbox One generation. Meanwhile, The Last of Us Part II was exclusively released for PS4 before the launch of the PS5, then remastered for Sony’s current-gen console in early 2024.
We’ve gotten bits of new information about both titles over the past few months. Naughty Dog revealed some new details about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet which you can read more about right here, while The Witcher 4 got a behind-the-scenes look from CD Projekt Red last month.
