The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog is currently working on an epic sci-fi adventure game titled Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, though not much is known about the exciting PlayStation exclusive apart from its lead actress being Tati Gabrielle. New details surfaced back in March, confirming the game’s timeline and basic story information. Director Neil Druckmann now says that the upcoming title will have the “deepest gameplay” that Naughty Dog has ever done.
Speaking to Last Stand Media (via PC Gamer) in a recent interview, Druckmann revealed that he’s “very, very excited” for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, adding “it’s the deepest gameplay we’ve ever done.” Druckmann didn’t elaborate on what he means by this but the expectation is that the gameplay will surpass The Last of Us and Uncharted. “I can’t wait to show it off,” he added.
Unfortunately, 2027 might be the earliest that we’ll be able to get our hands on Intergalactic. According to a previous report by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the game apparently won’t release in 2026, leaving 2027 and beyond open.
The description provided by PlayStation reads:
“Set thousands of years in the future, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet puts players into the role of Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on a distant planet known as Sempiria. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has been in development since 2020, with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross scoring a stellar soundtrack to accompany you on your adventure.”
In related news, PlayStation released a comprehensive bundle of The Last of Us back in April to coincide with the season 2 premiere of HBO’s live-action adaptation .The collection contains both The Last of Us Part I and The Last of Us Part II Remastered along with new content.
