iOS 14 Public Beta Now Available – How to Download and Install it

Apple has released the first of many iOS 14 public beta tests today. This means users who want to test out the new software without owning a developer account can now do so. This includes an iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 public beta.

iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 brings a massive list of changes and features and the public beta is a great way to experience these. Apple has added the ability to place widgets on your iPhone home screen, a new sleep feature for Apple Watch, an app drawer-like organizer, redesigned Siri, picture-in-picture and much more. No, really, there’s a lot to enjoy in iOS 14.

How to install iOS 14 Public Beta

Keep in mind that this software is still in early development which means it could be buggy. I have been running the developer beta since last month and it is stable but there’s a few issues here and there. For example, Pokemon GO and other Jailbreak-protected apps won’t work. It is nothing life-threatening at this stage. If you have ever run a beta software before then you know what you are doing.

It goes without saying that expect a load of updates released in the coming months ahead as Apple usually rolls out a new version once a week. In addition, as time goes by, the software will be improved so if you don’t install it now, it could be better in a month’s time.

Back up your iPhone or iPad before installing the beta. Do this through iCloud or iTunes

In short, if your device runs iOS 13 then it will run iOS 14.

How to install iOS 14 public beta profile

  • Visit the Apple Beta software program site and select “sign up”
  • Sign in using your Apple ID and agree to the terms of use
  • Select iOS or iPadOS on the list
  • Tap Download Profile and once installed approve it in Settings – General –  profiled
  • Search for a software update under Settings > General > Software Update
  • Install and enjoy
