iOS 17.1.1 Arrives to Fix Wireless Charging

Apple has rolled out iOS 17.1.1 for all supported iPhone models. If your iPhone can install iOS 17, it can install this update. The update isn’t huge by any means but it does fix some issues. One of the biggest issues is the BMW wireless charging bug which caused certain NFC features to break when you placed your phone on specific wireless charging pads in certain vehicles. This issue was only happening to iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max devices.

Apple has also fixed a bug which caused the snow icon on the weather widget to show up as a file instead of an actual icon of snow. iOS 17.1.1 also includes a modem update and other general bug fixes.

Along with iOS 17.1.1, Apple also rolled out a new version of HomePod 17.1.1 and Watch OS 10.1.1. The HomePod update fixes slow Siri connectivity and the WatchOS update aims to improve battery life by fixing an issue that resulted in unexpectedly fast battery drain.

  • This update provides bug fixes for your iPhone including:

  • In rare circumstances, Apple Pay and other NFC features may become unavailable on iPhone 15 models after wireless charging in certain cars

  • Weather Lock Screen widget may not correctly display snow

Of course, the big update we are all waiting for is iOS 17.2 which is expected to arrive in the coming weeks. That update will bring actual new features to iPhone models including the Journal App. The software also reportedly fixes Unifi Wi-Fi issues certain modems have with iPhone 15 devices.
