iOS 18.0.1 Out Now With Important Bug Fixes and iPhone 16 Screen Issue Fix

iOS 18.0.1 rolled out late last night across supported iPhone devices and brought with it some important bug fixes. The biggest fix is likely the touchscreen responsiveness bug that has been reported on iPhone 16 units. Users claim their iPhone 16 devices often lose touchscreen responsiveness at random times and scrolling starts to bug out as a result.

The software update also fixes another issue on the iPhone 16 Pro where the camera would freeze under certain circumstances when recording in macro mode. This was exclusive to the ultra-wide lens on the iPhone 16 Pro.

Outside of the iPhone 16 Pro, the update also fixes bugs on other devices. Apple isn’t very open with the rest of these bug fixes but they are part of this update too. Short and sweet – you should update your iPhone asap. The patch notes read:

  • This update provides important bug fixes and security updates for your iPhone including:
  • Touch screen may be temporarily unresponsive in certain circumstances on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models
  • Camera may freeze when recording macro mode video on the Ultra Wide camera in 4K with HDR turned off on iPhone 16 Pro models
  • Messages may unexpectedly quit when replying to a message with a shared Apple Watch face
  • Performance may be impacted due to an issue with memory allocation on some iPhone models

In addition to iOS 18.0.1 on iPhone, Apple has also rolled out iPadOS 18.0.1 on M5 iPad Pro models. The software is the first launch of iOS 18 on the new iPad Pro. The original iPadOS 18 launch last month was pulled immediately after releasing to the public. Users reported the update bricked certain devices and Apple yanked the software from the server before more iPads were affected. The software is now live and stable.
