Last night, Apple released iOS 18.3 to the public following a two-month-long beta of the software. The update is now available for all supported devices, but of course, the Apple Intelligence changes won’t be seen on any other phones except for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 lineup.
The update comes with a few changes to how Apple Intelligence handles its notification summaries. However, at the same time, Apple has disabled summaries for certain apps, including news and entertainment. This follows an incident where the BBC called Apple out for incorrectly summarising one of its headlines. Apple says the company is tweaking this feature and will notify users when it is available again.
iOS 18.3 will also enable Apple Intelligence by default now. So, you won’t need to go sign up for the service in the settings. If you don’t want to use any of the features, you can disable it.
Some changes to Apple Intelligence include the ability to use Visual Intelligence to add an event to the Calendar App from a poster or flyer. You can also use Visual Intelligence to easily identify plants and animals.
Outside of iOS 18.3, new software is also available across macOS 15.3, iPadOS 18.3, and WatchOS 10.3. These updates include various bug fixes and improvements, as well as Genmoji support on macOS 15.3.
Users are now waiting for Apple to release the next big Apple Intelligence update in iOS 18.4. This update will include the last batch of announced Apple Intelligence features, which were originally showcased in June last year. They include cross-app Siri integration, allowing the assistant to access data and communicate across apps.
We don’t know when iOS 18.4 will release in beta, but it should happen soon. Apple is then expected to release the software to the public in March. If you have a supported Apple device, you can initiate the update to iOS 18.3, WatchOS 10.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS 15.3 now.
