iOS 18.4 Available Now With New Apple Intelligence Priority Notifications

Apple has released iOS 18.4 (and other new software updates), which add new Apple Intelligence features to devices, additional emojis, and other fixes. The biggest new addition is on iPhone devices, as the new Apple Intelligence priority notifications have finally launched.

This feature was announced last June alongside the other tools, of which most have yet to launch and have been delayed. The priority notification system gives iOS 18.4 control over your notifications and uses AI to determine which of them are more important than others.

The new system will also be able to override your iPhone focus mode depending on whether or not the Apple Intelligence thinks the notification is important. So, say your phone is in sleep mode or meeting mode. If you get a vital text from someone in trouble or in a matter of urgency, the text will come through the active mode.

You do need to enable this first. Head to Settings – Notifications and enable Priority Notifications for this feature to work.

There is also a cool new Photos App feature in iOS 18.4, which lets you sort your photos with set filters. You can choose to sort photos by Shared With You or Not in an Album. You can also view photos on when they were last modified.

The update also brings new languages to Apple Intelligence, including French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (simplified) — as well as localized English for Singapore and India. In addition, Apple Intelligence has now launched for iPhone and iPad in the EU. Up to now, the tools weren’t available due to the EU restrictions on privacy.

Here’s a rundown by 9to5mac on iOS 18.4 and some features.
