Apple is planning on rolling out some major AI advancements next month during its WWDC event. One that has been detailed now is the ability to control specific iPhone app features with your voice.
Bloomberg says the feature will arrive with a revamped Siri powered by AI. The update will allow Siri to analyse the activity on your phone while turning on Siri-controlled features automatically. Users can use Siri to control features in apps made by Apple. The company is working on “hundreds” of commands within its built-in apps.
At first, Siri will only be able to handle one command at a time but after a while, Apple will roll out more features. Bloomberg says the AI-powered Siri will be able to summarize a recorded meeting and then send it to a friend, for example.
The idea of Siri being implemented into apps does sound exciting. Up to now, the assistant has been able to perform simple tasks like calling people, checking information on the web etc. However, if Siri has access to apps, it will be able to read and type out replies to emails, make shopping lists based on your likes and more.
Apple is expected to showcase AI features next month on 10 June. However, Bloomberg says that these in-app Siri features won’t be released until next year. It will be interesting to see what Apple ends up showing off instead when WWDC kicks off next month.
