iOS 18 Beta 3 Has a Cool New Dynamic Wallpaper and Auto Dark Mode Icons

Apple released its iOS 18 Beta 3 last night to developers and it has arrived with some nice changes. First off, the platform has now improved the Dark Mode icons on the home screen without the need for developers to change their icon images.

In iOS 18 Beta 2, the home screen icons would be a mix of Apple Dark Mode versions and third-party icons in whatever colour they were designed in. However, iOS 18 Beta 3 now automatically adjusts these third-party icons into Dark Mode style without any developer tweaks.

For example, the YouTube icon which is usually white with the red logo inside now automatically turns the white into a dark grey and darkens the logo. Other icons are given the same treatment. You can see from the image how the Meta Quest icon changes.

Of course, some icons still won’t change for some reason. The Airalo icon remains white even when the device is in Dark Mode. Hopefully, the next beta fixes these.

Apple has also added a cool new dynamic wallpaper to iOS 18 Beta 3 that changes colour depending on the time of day. Previously, the OS had its set iOS 18 dark and light wallpapers but now, the dynamic wallpaper changes colour over time.

The wallpaper starts off the day with a lighter hue and as the hour progresses, it slowly darkens. By the evening, the colour variants are much darker simulating an evening theme. Watch it in action below:

These new changes are just a few of the dozens of new features in iOS 18. Users are, however, waiting for Apple to roll out its Apple Intelligence AI features on the platform. Many of which are only expected to arrive in early 2025.

iOS 18 is currently in beta testing for supported devices. You can see if your iPhone supports the upcoming OS here.
