iPhone 14 Owners Report Grinding Noises in Camera System While Using Apps

Early adopters of the iPhone 14 Pro range have encountered a strange set of noises emitting from their camera systems while using their devices. Sounds described as “shakiness and grinding” seem to be the biggest issue at the moment. However, the issues only seem to pop up when using third-party apps where the app uses the camera for some reason. This means apps like TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and even Twitter have had issues.

Users claim the sound is concerning and makes them worry that their iPhone 14 is faulty. YouTuber Luke Miani shared his experience with the iPhone 14 camera in a clip on Twitter and there’s no doubt a loud sound coming from the device.

The sound happens even when the device is remaining still meaning there’s nothing loose inside the iPhone 14 Pro. It also only happens in third-party apps. Launching the built-in iPhone app, users claim there’s no rattling or buzzing at all. Here’s a clip of the sound below;

Given that the iPhone 14 Pro uses a new type of camera technology to stabilize its shots, third-party apps have unlikely been updated to support this tech just yet. This means that when the camera is working while using TikTok and Snapchat, the apps don’t know how to implement the new camera features which likely causes the bug to happen.

If it was a system-wide camera issue, users would report problems across the board. However, right now it seems to be limited to third-party apps.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro range is set to launch this week in South Africa. The devices will release on 23 September at some incredibly high price tags. You can pre-order your iPhone 14 device today and hopefully get it at launch.
