From a design perspective, the iPhone 16 comes in the same two sizes as the iPhone 15. The iPhone 16 model includes a 6.1-inch OLED and the iPhone 16 Plus includes a 6.7-inch OLED. There are also new colours with an aluminium finish.

All models come with the Action Button which allows you to assign shortcuts to the phone to perform certain tasks. This button was introduced last year on the iPhone 15 Pro.

The new Camera Control button is also on the iPhone 16. This button lets you quickly open the camera by tapping the touch button. With it, you can take photos or quickly access Apple Intelligence tools by taking a photo of an object or animal.

The Camera Control also unlocks quick tools when using the camera. You can slide your finger over the button to zoom in. It can also distinguish between a quick click to take a photo and a long press to record a video. Users can also click and slide their fingers across the button to change settings.

The iPhone 16 comes with a 48MP main camera lens and a 12MP ultra-wide camera with autofocus and macro.

All of this is powered by the A18 chip. It includes AI support through Apple Intelligence, advanced gaming performance and all the power you’ll need for your daily tasks.

Apple’s higher-end iPhone 16 Pro models come with similar features to the iPhone 16. It includes the Camera Control which integrates into the phone’s triple-camera sensor. However, there’s also a new A18 Pro chip which is exclusive to the Pro range.

It also comes with larger displays. The iPhone 16 Pro includes a 6.3-inch display and the iPhone 16 Pro Max includes a 6.9-inch panel. This is thanks to the thinner bezels on both phones. You’ll be able to pick up the range in black, white, natural and a new colour called “desert” on the exterior.

Speaking of the exterior, the phones include a new textured exterior and updated internal chassis that Apple says has improved the thermals and allowed for better battery life.

In terms of the camera system, the iPhone 16 Pro includes a 12MP 5x telephoto camera, a 48MP ultra-wide lens and a new 48MP Fusion Camera. These work with the Camera Control to snap photos instantly and stay focused on a subject.

For video recording, the iPhone 16 Pro includes 4K 120Hz Cinematic Slow Motion. This mode comes with Pro Res recording to an external SSD too. You can slow down this 4K 120Hz video to 60FPS, 30FPS and 24FPS.

The phone includes 4 studio-quality microphones across the device for better sound recording. Using these microphones, users can apply an audio mix to their video to isolate voices, add cinematic audio to the scene or clean the background noise. This is all done on-device.

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro will retail from $799 and $999 respectively. The phones will be available on 20 September in the US.
