After weeks of speculation and rumours, EA Motive has confirmed that it is working on a new single-player Iron Man game. Not much information was revealed about this mysterious new project outside of the announcement and first image, but this might be excellent news for fans hoping for a new AAA Iron Man game.
EA Motive Studio previously worked on Star Wars: Battlefront II as a support studio to DICE before taking the reign as the primary developer on Star Wars: Squadrons. Outside of Star Wars, the studio is also currently working on the current-gen remake of the acclaimed survival horror game, Dead Space, due out in January next year.
MORE IRON MAN – Cancelled Iron Man Game from Just Cause Studio Revealed
Marvel Games vice president and creative director Bill Rosemann provided a short statement on its website announcing the Iron Man game:
“We are thrilled to collaborate with the talented team at Motive Studio to bring their original vision of one of Marvel’s most important, powerful and beloved characters. Their experience delivering both established entertainment worlds and thrilling gameplay — combined with their authentic passion for the armored icon — will fuel our quest to deliver a love letter to a legendary hero in the form of the ultimate Iron Man video game.”
The Iron Man game will be developed in collaboration with Marvel Games as a single-player, third-person action-adventure. Beyond that, we only know that the project is currently in the pre-production phase meaning it’s still a long ways off from release.
EA is also heavily rumoured to be developing a Black Panther game, though that might’ve taken the shape of Skydance New Media’s upcoming superhero team-up game that features the character alongside Captain America. However, it’s possible that there is more than one Black Panther project currently in development at different studios.
