The original Harry Potter author J.K Rowling is not directly involved in the recently-announced Harry Potter Hogwarts Legacy. The FAQ from publisher Warner Bros. Games claims that while the game’s story is set in the world created by the author, she did not write the story or decide on the game’s setting.”
WB Games also confirmed that the upcoming game is not a new story written by Rowling either. It seems the game is an original new story created by developer Avalanche. However, by the sounds of things, it seems she had some sort of say in the game. We just don’t know what.
WB Games reached out to Polygon claiming they do not have any more information other than what is listed on the game’s FAQ and website.
JK Rowling has come under fire in the recent months after offending Harry Potter fans with her transphobic comments. The author has made multiple transphobic remarks on Twitter. Back in June, she poked fun at trans people posting an article about “people who menstruate”. She then tried to apologize in a long article but it was more of an attack on the trans community than an apology.
‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?

Rowling recently published a book called Troubled Blood that is based on a cisgender man who dresses as a woman and kills people.
While JK Rowling is not directly involved in the upcoming Harry Potter Hogwarts Legacy, the author will earn royalties from the game’s sales. She also profits from the whole Wizarding World universe at the same time. She did create it so it is only fair. However, it seems WB Games is set to limit her voice in the game in fear of it affecting sales. Harry Potter fans have already started pawning off collectable materials after the author began her transphobic rants.
