In a statement, director Eli Roth (Hostel and Cabin Fever) seemed very enthusiastic about Jack Black voicing Claptrap in the Borderlands movie.
“I am so excited to reunite with Jack, this time in the recording booth. Claptrap is the funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect to bring him to the big screen.”
Jack Black will be starring aside other rather famous figures in the Borderlands movie. This includes Kevin Hart as Roland, Cate Blanchette as Lilith and Jamie-Lee Curtis as Patricia Tannis. So far everyone but Kevin Hart seems like the perfect fit for their roles (I play loads of Borderlands don’t @ me).
The Borderlands movie has been in pre-production for some time now. It was initially teased over six years ago but it was not until late 2020 that casting really kicked off. The movie begins filming in Budapest this year following countless setbacks due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait much longer to see the video game series brought to life in the form of a movie.
The movie is being produced in partnership with franchise creator Randy Pitchford and Gearbox Software. The studio is also revitalizing the Tales From The Borderlands video game which was delisted two years ago. It is no doubt a great time to be a fan of the series.
