Jared Leto is making his return as the Joker for Zack Snyder’s Justice League Director’s Cut. The controversial role first appeared back in 2016 in Suicide Squad which led to Jared Leto getting slammed for his “edgy” approach to the Clown Prince of Crime. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Leto will reprise his role for the film. However, we don’t know what role the Joker will play in it.

There’s a lot of drama surrounding Leto and his Joker role. The actor only appeared briefly in Suicide Squad. However, reports claim his “minor” role was actually cut down during post-production. Leto’s character was also referenced but never appeared in Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. The film was set after the breakup between Harley and Joker.
Earlier this year, rumours claimed that Jared would never return to the role. Let alone appear in a Justice League adaption. Reports said he was never slated to appear in any original version of the film series. In addition, reports claimed he tried to stop the filming of the critically acclaimed Joaquin Phoenix film.
Keep in mind that Snyder is currently using reshoots to make up the Justice League Director’s Cut. This includes Ben Affleck, Ray Fisher, and Amber Heard. By the sound of things, Snyder could be setting up Jared Leto and his Joke role to be something bigger in the future. Perhaps lay down the foundations for more spinoffs in the years to come?
It is going to be a long wait before fans can watch the four-hour-plus movie when it releases sometime next year. However, the more we learn and see, the more we can’t wait. It is no doubt the version of the film that should have released in the first place.
