A sequel TV series to John Wick: Chapter 4 is in development at Lionsgate Television. The show, which is officially titled John Wick: Under the High Table, will be set after the events of the fourth movie and seemingly explore some of the unanswered questions about the lore, such as the elusive High Table and shadowy underworld of assassins right under our nose. Keanu Reeves is set to produce the series.
According to Deadline, John Wick: Under the High Table will continue where the story left off in John Wick: Chapter 4, though it won’t necessarily focus on the titular character (an odd decision considering his name is still in the final title). Either way, fans of the action franchise can expect a lot from this sequel TV series that digs deeper into the surprisingly fantastic mythos of the John Wick universe and its numerous colourful side characters.
The show’s official logline reads:
“John Wick has left the world of the High Table in a tenuous position and a collection of new characters will look to make a name for themselves while some of the franchise stalwart characters remain committed to the old-world order. The series will combine new and old and thrust the Wick universe into a new age.”
Keanu Reeves will reportedly take on a producer role on the series alongside Chad Stahelski, the director of all four John Wick movies and the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima movie for Sony. Black Sails‘ Robert Levine will be the show’s writer and showrunner.
In related news, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon said he really wanted John Wick as a guest character in Mortal Kombat 1, though for some reason or another, it hasn’t happened yet. In case you missed it, read up on our summary of the entire John Wick series leading up to Chapter 4.
