Joker 2 is Reportedly a Musical With Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn

Last week we shared the exciting news that Warner Bros. was officially working on a new Joker movie called Joker: Folie à deux. This Joker sequel news got fans very excited for the future of Joaquin Phoenix’s character who set a new standard for DC films back in 2019. However, it seems that Joker 2 isn’t what we thought it would be. Reports now claim that the movie is actually a musical with Lady Gaga set to star as Harley Quinn.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lady Gaga is set to star as a very different version of Harley Quinn compared to the one we know already starring Margot Robbie. Gaga would take on the role of a much darker, grittier and deadlier Harley Quinn. One that would fit the movie’s overall format.

The report claims that while both Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix have been approached to sign off on the film, both have yet to officially close the deal yet.

Joker 2 Director Todd Phillips had previously worked with Gaga on A Star is Born. Phillips produced the film that starred Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. It makes sense that Phillips would work with Gaga again on a musical-like film given her singing experience and her eccentric acting skills.

The big question now is how will Joker: Folie à deux come out as a musical? The film’s title suggests that it could refer to Batman but now that Lady Gaga is in the picture, it definitely confirms that both Joker and his longtime partner in love and crime, Harley Quinn will be in the film. However, neither of the stars has yet to sign a deal with Warner Bros. We will have to just wait patiently and see how this film will turn out.

If anything, it is going to be a drastic departure from the first one. Then again, if done right, it might just be perfection.
