Director and writer Jordan Peele revealed the trailer for his new horror film called Nope. The premise revolves around a small American desert town and ranch owners that seemingly come in contact with aliens – and strange things ensue.
The plot for Nope is still being kept tightly under wraps, but it stars Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer as ranch owners in inland California who make a chilling, otherworldly discovery revolving around a possible alien threat. The Walking Dead actor Steven Yeun also stars in the film.

Jordan Peele, who started out producing comedy skits with Key & Peele, made a leap to directing feature films following the Award-winning 2017 thriller Get Out. In 2019, Peele released his sophomore horror Us. Nope marks his third directorial effort and a return to the horror genre with his signature style.
Universal Pictures was able to provide a description of Nope:
“Oscar winner Jordan Peele disrupted and redefined modern horror with Get Out and then Us. Now, he reimagines the summer movie with a new pop nightmare: the expansive horror epic, Nope. The film reunites Peele with Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Judas and the Black Messiah), who is joined by Keke Palmer (Hustlers, Alice) and Oscar nominee Steven Yeun (Minari, Okja) as residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.”
The horror genre has notably been in short supply of creative premises, though Nope seems to fill that void. Alien invasion horror films, in particular, haven’t had the greatest track record with the only notable films in the sub-genre being Independence Day and Signs, though the former focused largely on action spectacle over scares.
Nope releases in cinemas on 22 July 2022. Check out the eerie first trailer below.
