Jump Force to Shut Down Online Sales and Services Next Year

Bandai Namco Entertainment’s anime crossover fighter Jump Force will be removed from digital storefronts and shut down its online services in 2022, the publisher confirmed recently. No official reason was provided for this sudden shutdown of Spike Chunsoft’s fighter, but we presume it has to do with the game’s poor performance and lack of player numbers.

Bandai Namco recently issued a statement confirming that Jump Force will discontinue digital sales, downloadable content and other in-game content on 7 February 2022. All online services will then be ceased on 24 August 2022. This shutdown will affect all platforms including PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch versions. That said, all single-player and offline functions will still remain intact, including local PvP.

The official statement released by Bandai Namco didn’t offer any concrete reason behind the closure, but they did express their thanks for the game’s continued support:

“Everyone at Bandai Namco Entertainment would like to offer our sincere thanks to all Jump Force players and fans for their years of support. Today, we are announcing the end of Jump Force’s availability through digital purchase in the Americas. Jump Force will cease to be available for base game, DLCs and virtual currency purchase on 2/7/2022 at 5:00pm PST for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Additionally, some of the Jump Force online service servers will be sunsetting on 8/24/2022; however, all single player functions will continue to be playable locally on your home console or PC, as well as PVP battle, except the Ranked Match mode.”

If you’re hoping to play Jump Force anytime after 2022, you’ll only be able to play it offline and locally, meaning you won’t be able to purchase any of the DLC or additional content for the game online. This is a bit tragic considering a good majority of the game’s best characters, including Yoruichi from Bleach and Giorno Giovanna from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, are only available as DLC options. So make sure you pick them all up before it’s too late.

Jump Force is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
