I happened to stumble upon a trailer for an upcoming movie called Jurassic Thunder. The cover art for the trailer looked pretty epic as it depicts a deadly dinosaur with bloody teeth and with the word “horror” in the title made me think it could have been something out of the ordinary. Well, I just watched the trailer and I already want my money back.
The two-minute trailer for Jurassic Thunder is quite a showcase of bad CG, acting and hell knows what else but I could not stop watching it. I even replayed it a few times just to pause it at specific scenes in order to take it all in. The green screen work is atrocious with frames being offset at the wrong angles, the dinosaur is plastic and the acting, oh lord!
Take the scene at 21 seconds, for example. What in the world is going on here? The lady on the right is smiling as the terribly-designed dinosaur comes out of the carriage which is obviously too small for the creature. The plastic-looking monster then has a machine gun attached to the side of it and blows up toy tanks. We then shoot to some stock footage of an army plane taking off with some guy standing in front of it giving it the thumbs up. Of course, the “guy” has been green-screened into the scene.
Jurassic Thunder has actually released this week on rental and DVD so if you want to (really want to) then you can pick it up and give it a watch.
If anything, the trailer made me chuckle more than anything else. It is quite a thing to watch and if you need a break from all the coronavirus drama in the world, this will help as a distraction.
