Just Cause Movie Announced Blue Beetle Director

Just Cause Movie Announced – Gets Blue Beetle Director

After years of rumours, it looks like the live-action Just Cause movie is finally moving forward with the director of Blue Beetle at the helm. Universal Pictures is teaming up with Square Enix to produce an adaptation of the company’s high-octane open world action title.

As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, Ángel Manuel Soto, the director of 2023’s superhero movie Blue Beetle, has been tapped to direct the Just Cause movie. Kelly McCormick and David Leitch, the producing duo behind The Fall Guy and Nobody, have signed on to produce the movie under 87North.

Just Cause lends itself pretty well to a movie adaptation. The games follow Rico Rodriguez, a mercenary who glides around massive islands using parachutes and grappling hooks. The series is also known for its massive action set pieces and borderline physics-defying moments. As long as the director is able to capture that same energy on the big screen, this might be a pretty successful adaptation if done right.

If you’re itching to play the Just Cause series, here’s a quick breakdown of the latest entry, Just Cause 4:

“Just Cause 4 Reloaded delivers an expansive and explosive gameplay experience in an all-new package! Just Cause 4 Reloaded includes additional premium content as well as all previously released improvements and additions to the game. Jump into an action-packed open-world sandbox experience and cause chaos with a wide selection of weaponry, vehicles and gear. Strap into your wingsuit, equip your fully customizable grappling hook, and get ready to bring the thunder!”

As for other video game movies currently in the works, Keanu Reeves has signed on to voice Shadow in the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog 3. Reeves will be joined by Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
