Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl Performance PlayStation Easter Egg

Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Performance Contained a PlayStation Easter Egg

The Super Bowl LIX took place recently and many users probably tuned in for completely different reasons other than football. Historically, the event is the go-to place for major companies to promote upcoming movies and TV shows. This year, we had quite a few new trailers and spots. However, fans also tuned in to see famous rapper Kendrick Lamar put on a show at halftime, but nobody expected to see a PlayStation Easter egg in the performance.

Performing his hit Grammy-award winning song ‘Not Like Us’ during the haltime show at the Super Bowl – a song singling out musician Drake as an alleged pedophile, by the way – Kendrick Lamar gave fans a lot more than they bargained for when he snuck in a PlayStation Easter egg during his elaborate performance. The stage setup for his performance actually contained four gigantic PlayStation symbols which could only be seen from afar.

As for what it all means, many have speculated that this was Kendrick’s way of telling Drake “Game Over” regarding his ongoing beef with the Canadian artist. Others think Sony might’ve found a way to sneak a promo into the performance. Either way, it made for a pretty unique and awesome stage layout.

As for what’s happening with PlayStation in the gaming industry, the company quietly issued more layoffs last week, though it’s unclear to what extent or how many jobs were impacted. Over the weekend, PlayStation also suffered a major network outage that ran for 24 hours before bring brought back yesterday. The company apologised by offering players a five-day extension on their current PlayStation Plus subscriptions. This was the first time since 2011’s disastrous 23-day PSN outage that PlayStation’s network was down for a prolonged period.
