Do you know that super-serious guy named Roland who appeared in multiple Borderlands games? Well, he is being played by the stand-up comedian Kevin Hart in the upcoming Borderlands movie. After playing a video game avatar in two Jumanji films, Hollywood seems to think Kevin Hart is the go-to actor to play any black male role based on any video game out there.

The official Borderlands social media accounts confirmed that Kevin Hart will take the role of Roland in the upcoming Lionsgate adaption of the popular video game series. He will act alongside Cate Blanchette who was previously cast to play the legendary vault hunter Lilith.
Eli Roth (The Green Inferno, Death Wish) is directing the Borderlands movie. In a statement, Eli says that he is thrilled to be working with Kevin.
“Borderlands is a different kind of role for him, and we are excited to thrill audiences with a side of Kevin they’ve never seen before. He’s going to be an amazing Roland.”
The upcoming Borderlands movie is based on the popular Gearbox Software video game series. As of now, we don’t know what the movie will be about and where it will be based in the video game series. However, according to the cast we know of, we can expect it to take place before the end of Borderlands 2 where Roland (yes, played by Kevin Hart) meets his untimely demise. The film is without a release date.
