Sony Pictures in assocation with Marvel have released a new R-rated trailer for its upcoming comic book movie, Kraven The Hunter, based on the villain from the Spider-Man universe. The trailer is admittedly pretty exciting, showing off a surprising amount of violence, gore and action between Aaron-Taylor Johnson hunting enemies.
The new trailer for Kraven The Hunter features Kick-Ass actor Aaron-Taylor Johnson as the titular villain, this time following his origins story before he become known as one of Spider-Man’s most dangerous adversaries. Filled with blood, violence and one-liners to make sure you know you’re watching a movie about a hunter, the trailer does its job well in selling the idea of another R-rated comic book movie following this year’s immensely successful Deadpool and Wolverine.
The synopsis for Kraven The Hunter reads:
“Kraven the Hunter is the visceral, action-packed origin story of how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Kraven, a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared.”
Sony Pictures has been on a roll producing Spider-Man movies focused on the webslinger’s vibrant rogues gallery, including Venom, Madame Web and Morbius – all to varying degrees of success critically and at the box office. This latest attempt at bringing Kraven to the forefront of its expanding universe seems promising and hopefully, it leads to an adaptation of one of the best Spider-Man graphic novels of all time, Kraven’s Last Hunt.
Kraven The Hunter arrives in cinemas this December and stars Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Russell Crowe, Christopher Abbott, Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger and Alessandro Nivola as The Rhino (who makes a brief appearance towards the end of the trailer). Watch it below:
