Godzilla x Kong The New Empire Trailer

Latest Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Trailer is Dumb and Awesome

Warner Bros Pictures and Legendary Pictures have released a new trailer for its upcoming MonsterVerse mash-up, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The latest trailer is so dumb yet so awesome, seeing the two titans once again teaming up to take down a new threat in the form of a mysterious dominant ape.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire picks up sometime after the events of 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong. The duo, having settled their disputes from the last movie, are now living separate lives. Kong remains in Hollow Earth as its alpha but not for long as a new civilisation of giant apes emerge, led by a terrifying new orangutan-like foe that threatens Kong’s peaceful life. Godzilla joins the party to stop the villain and he appears to be glowing nuclear pink this time.

The official description for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire reads:

“The epic battle continues! Legendary Pictures’ cinematic Monsterverse follows up the explosive showdown of ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ with an all-new adventure that pits the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence—and our own. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire delves further into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”

Moving away from the more serious tone established in 2014’s excellent Godzilla movie from director Gareth Edwards, the newer entries in the MonsterVerse have fully embraced the monster royal rumbles from Godzilla’s past movies and brought them to life in astonishing ways today. The New Empire looks like it might be a lot of fun if you can switch your brain off and just go along for the ride.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire arrives in cinemas on 12 April 2024. Check out the trailer below:
