The latest trailer for upcoming Disney+ series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, is finally here on Star Wars day. The trailer shows lead actor Ewan McGregor reprising his role as the famous Jedi, who will also be joined alongside a familiar face, Hayden Christensen, returning as Darth Vader.
Disney revealed the new trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi today ahead of its arrival later this month. The trailer confirms that the show will be set ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, putting an older Obi-Wan on the road to eventually meeting up with a young Luke Skywalker and leading into the events of A New Hope.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will debut on 27 May 2022 as a six-part series that will air one episode per week. Alongside McGregor as Obi-Wan and Christensen as Darth Vader, the supporting cast also includes Joel Edgerton who will play a younger Owen Lars. Rupert Friend, best known for Hitman: Agent 47, will play the Grand Inquisitor.
Since the events take place post-Revenge of the Sith, we find Obi-Wan Kenobi hiding out on Tatooine and watching over Luke as he evades the Empire’s elite Jedi hunters.
It will be interesting to see the dynamic between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader (his former Padawan, Anakin Skywalker) following the events of the final film in the prequel trilogy, especially since it evolves into one of the most impactful scenes from A New Hope.
The show also arrives just in time for the arrival of Disney+ in South Africa. The streaming service is set to launch in the country on 18 May 2022, offering a monthly subscription cost of R119 or an annual subscription cost of R1190 (equating to R99 per month).
