The latest trailer of Sega’s upcoming open-world platformer Sonic Frontiers has appeared online as part of Tokyo Game Show 2022 (or TGS) and it gives us our first glimpse at a classic transformation: Super Sonic. The trailer also features some catchy upbeat rock music that adds quite a bit to the tone of the game.
Some might consider this a light spoiler, but the Tokyo Game Show trailer for Sonic Frontiers shows what appears to be the classic Super Sonic, a form that Sonic can achieve when drawing out the positive power of the seven Chaos Emeralds. It gives Sonic a number of extraordinary powers such as increased strength, speed, agility and even flight, as seen in the new trailer. For most fans, Super Sonic is widely regarded as one of the most powerful beings in the universe.

The official description provided by PlayStation under the new TGS trailer reads:
“Dangerous new enemies require powerful new abilities in Sonic Frontiers – Available for Pre-Order today! The Starfall Islands are home to strange and menacing foes that Sonic has never encountered before. Using an all-new battle system, join Sonic in confronting these titanic threats with upgraded combat skills, evasive maneuvers, and a few familiar tricks up his sleeve. Jump into adventure, harness the power of the Emeralds, and fight to stop these new, mysterious enemies!”
Sonic Frontiers will allow players, for the first time in the series, to explore a massive open-world filled with secrets, puzzles, random encounters and more. It’s a new approach to the familiar Sonic formula that shies away from linear levels and opts for a more freeform gameplay style. Hopefully this works out for the best when the game launches in a couple of months.
Sonic Frontiers releases on 8 November 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Check out the latest trailer below.
