Superman, the upcoming DC movie directed by James Gunn, has received another short teaser, this time showing a few brand new clips that weren’t featured in the first trailer. The superhero movie aims to be a refresh reset of the DC cinematic universe (or DCU) under Gunn’s supervision, removing the canon of the previous DCEU and all of its cast.
The latest Superman teaser is only 30 seconds long but features a couple of shots showing the Man of Steel in flight and Lex Luthor looking savvy with his glasses as he exits a plane or helicopter in a snowy region, presumably tying into the clip where Superman was seen defeated and calling for Krypto. Beyond that, not much else was shown that can be considered “new” though the internet seems a bit divided on the clip of Superman flying.
The plot description for Superman reads, “Follows the titular superhero as he reconciles his heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the human way in a world that views this as old-fashioned.”
The movie will star David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Nicholas Hoult (who just appeared in the Oscar-nominated Robert Eggers horror movie Nosferatu) as the villain and archnemesis Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, House of the Dragon‘s Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Other cast members include Alan Tudyk, Isabela Merced, Frank Grillo, Sean Gunn and Wendell Pierce.
In other DC news, Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II will begin shooting this year, though its release date has since been pushed back to October 2027 after initially being pinned for release in October 2026. Robert Pattinson is set to make a return as Bruce Wayne/Batman but most of the sequel’s plot is being kept under wraps for now. It’s still unclear if Gunn plans to integrate The Batman into the DCU or leave it as its own standalone universe.
