Latest Tales of Arise Trailer Explores The Game’s Features

Tales of Arise is releasing on 10 September and if you’re not sure what the game is about and what you’ll be doing then the latest trailer has you covered. Bandai Namco released a new deep-dive video showcasing the game’s story, in-game activities, combat and more. In Tales of Arise, players follow the story of Alphen and Shionne, two different people from different worlds who decide to rise and stop the tyranny taking place in Dahna.

For 300 years, Rena, another world, has ruled over Dahna forcing people into slavery whole stripping the world of its resources and freedom. This is where Alphen and Shionne come in. The two lead characters form an alliance and set off to cleanse the lands.

This alliance includes the rest of the cast. Each character has a unique personality, fighting style and role in the game. Rinwell, for example, casts magic known as artes while Law is a hand-to-hand combat fighter. Kisara is all about defence as she buffs the team and protects them with her massive shield. Combat aside, each character also has a deep background that players can explore during the game. Talking to them will expand on this even more and hopefully, players will bond with the cast while doing so.

Tales of Arise is inspired by anime so the game boasts a watercolour art style. Bandai Namco calls this the “New Atmospheric Shader” and it has helped them create a world truly unique in the Tales Of series.

The world in Tales of Arise is dynamic. The day and night cycle sees the lighting change, new enemies appear and the character dialogue switches around as this takes place. The environments are all unique and offer pathways for players to explore and treasures hidden in different areas. Players can find fishing spots and catch rare fish and gather ingredients while exploring the lands. You can then take these items and cook different meals at your camp. These meals grant special bonuses to your party for a limited time.

Tales of Arise also includes a farm feature but we don’t know much about it yet. We know that players will have to tend to the farm and animals but we are not sure how the systems work and how they tie into the progression of the game.

Tales of Arise packs a new combat system too. Players will perform deadly combos and pull off amazing skills and abilities with a press of a button. Dodging, blocking and deflecting enemy attacks also goes a long way to secure victory. Of course, you will find new gear that boosts your skills and stats for each party member.

There is a lot more to discover in Tales of Arise but so far, the game might just scratch that itch for a new JRPG experience. Check out the deep dive trailer down below. The game launches on 10 September 2021 for PS4, PS5, Xbox and PC. You can also download the free demo now on consoles.
