Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Charging Stand

Leaked Images of Switch 2 Joy-Cons Surface With Added Paddle Button

We still have no clue when Nintendo will announce its new console but that isn’t stopping the leaks from popping up now and then. Back in September, we got the biggest leak so far when 3D renders appeared online that were supposedly accurate CAD drawings of the console. Now, there’s a full video of the Switch 2 Joy-Cons.

Granted, this video is a hot mess. It is blurry, loud and chops between gameplay, someone speaking and the few seconds of the Joy-Cons. It is a pain to watch, I don’t recommend it. Instead, you can look at the images of the Joy-Cons below.

At first glance, you’ll notice that these attachments look very familiar. They have the same overall design as the current set but there are some notable changes. First off, the controllers now have a bump on the inside with the SR and SL buttons easily accessible. This black portion of the Joy-Cons is reportedly magnetic and slots into the screen with a magnetic release system. It is unclear how the wrist strap attachment is installed onto the controller.

The new Joy-Cons also have a more rounded edge to them. Not only do they look slightly larger but the curve on the outer bottom sides is a change from the current flat surface. There’s also an added paddle button on both Joy-Cons. This is in addition to the top two trigger buttons. The paddle faces inward which makes it easy to press when holding the device.

The trigger button has also been changed. It now seems to be an actual trigger button with a curve for your finger. The current Joy-Cons just have rounded buttons.

Overall, the new changes to the Switch 2 Joy-Cons align the system with current PC gaming handhelds on the market. Of course, this leak could be completely fake so take it with a pinch of salt for now. Until Nintendo announces stuff, this is the best we have. The latest report suggests Nintendo will announce the console in January.
