LeBron James Reveals Limited Edition PS5 Faceplate and DualSense Controller

Sony has teamed up with LeBron James to release some fancy limited edition PS5 Faceplates as well as a DualSense Controller. The partnership has been announced as part of Sony’s new PlayStation Playmakers program which will see the company team up with influential people to collaborate on unique products for the PlayStation brand.

According to Sony, the LeBron James PS5 DualSense Controller and Faceplates feature elements inspired by LeBron and not only his love for gaming but also his career success and community. The DualSense Controller is basically the usual black model but has some striking art scattered around it.

There are words on the touchpad that read “nothing is given. Everything is earned.” The right side of the controller also includes words that read “chosen one. Build, uplift, empower. I promise”. There’s also other artwork around the controller including LeBron James’ crown art and some PlayStation Buttons at the top.

The PS5 Faceplate also includes similar art across it and comes in black. It also seemingly is signed by LeBron James at the bottom right-hand corner.

In a statement, LeBron James shared his inspiration behind the design of the collection:

“It’s still crazy to think a kid from Akron who grew up playing games is getting to create something like this. Designing a console cover and controller with PlayStation that gives a nod to my I Promise students and where we come from is a pretty cool thing. I hope it’s something that continues to inspire everyone who touches it, and that they have a little fun finding meaning in every detail.”

Of course, the question now is when and where can you get these products. Sony says that they will roll out globally in “certain” regions later this year. In addition, select markets can pick up the products on the direct.playstation.com store later this year too. We don’t know if this means South Africa will get a handful of these or not. Hopefully, local gamers will get the opportunity to pick some up.
