We might get a new Legacy of Kain game this year. According to a new listing, it seems that Legacy of Kain: Defiance has been rated for PS5 and PS4.
The rating was spotted in Taiwan, and while it might point at a possible remaster for the game, it is speculated that this might simply be a port of the classic PS2 game for the PlayStation Plus Classic Games lineup.
While we had a remaster of the original Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 games back in December last year, it is unlikely that this rating is an HD remaster or remake. However, it is still great to see the entire series making its way to modern hardware, even if this might end up being a port of the PS2 classic.
“Take control of two powerful and highly evolved vampires: Kain, an all-powerful demigod, and Raziel, a demonic angel of death,” reads the description for the game. Each equipped with a legendary sword, Kain & Raziel must battle through a world loaded with conflict and intrigue as they attempt to unravel their destinies and defeat the dark forces that seek to condemn their world to eternal damnation.”
Legacy of Kain: Defiance released back in 2003 as the final entry in the series and the direct follow-up to Soul Reaver 2. The series has been in hiatus ever since. Sure, there was the HD remaster collection last year, but in terms of new games, we haven’t seen much apart from a battle royale PvP spin-off.
This rating might point to the game heading to PlayStation Plus in July/August. We will keep you updated on the announcement.
