For starters, the Adventures with Mario Starter Course will be a mandatory purchase for anyone that wants to use any of the LEGO Super Mario toys. The starter set will include a Mario figurine as well as a 7-inch Action Brick that won’t be found in any other bundle.

Once you own the Adventures with Mario Starter Course, you can then look at purchasing the expansion sets. There will be two sets at launch including a Piranha Plant Power Slide Expansion Set and the Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Expansion Set. These sets have been described to be modular meaning you can take them apart and combine them with other parts in the LEGO Super Mario series in order to create customized levels.

While we don’t have the South African pricing yet for the sets, the LEGO Super Mario range will retail in the US for the following (just to give you some idea on how much you need to save);

  • Adventures with Mario Starter Course – $59,99
  • Piranha Plant Power Slide Expansion Set – $29,99
  • Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Expansion Set – $99,99

The LEGO Super Mario sets will work alongside a unique app where players can access augmented reality game modes, track your score and help you build and rebuild your sets. Players will also be able to look at the builds in detail and zoom in and out of them as they experience the building process.

As soon as we know the plans for the local launch of these toys, we will share them including local availability and pricing.
