Lies of P, the upcoming Soulslike RPG inspired by the tale of Pinocchio, recently received a new gameplay trailer showing off more combat, exploration and traversal. The game is often compared to From Software’s Bloodborne due to its gothic atmosphere and tone, familiar gameplay elements and striking dark visuals. A release date was not mentioned but it’s still expected to release in 2023 for consoles and PC.
As part of IGN Fan Fest, developers Neowiz Games and Round 8 Studio brought a new gameplay trailer for Lies of P to the event. It includes some footage that we’ve already seen in previous trailers, but a few short clips offer new looks at combat, exploration and traversing the gothic world of the game.

Lies of P is being touted as a reimagining of the classic tale of Pinocchio, though it’s much darker than the story we’re familiar with. Players assume the role of Pinocchio who can change parts of his body for new upgrades, weapons and tools. Gameplay flows similarly to Bloodborne with weapon and environment designs also sharing similarities. Players can use an assortment of weapons, craft builds and parry enemies. Since it’s unlikely that we’ll ever get a Bloodborne sequel, this might scratch that itch.
The official description of Lies of P reads:
“Lies of P is an action souls-like game set in a cruel, dark Belle Époque world. All of humanity is lost in a once beautiful city that has now become a living hell filled with unspeakable horrors. Lies of P offers an elegant world filled with tension, a deep combat system and a gripping story. Guide Pinocchio and experience his unrelenting journey to become human.”
Lies of P launches in 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Check out the new gameplay trailer below.
