About 24 hours ago, Bandai Namco revealed a new gameplay trailer for Tekken 8 highlighting the return of Jun Kazama. We now have yet another character trailer confirming Ling Xiaoyu joining the roster. Bandai Namco seems to be pumping out trailers for Tekken 8 at a fast rate now which begs the question how large the roster will be considering the game is still without a release date.
Ling Xiaoyu has been one of the staple fighters in the Tekken series since Tekken 3, introduced in the new generation of characters alongside the likes of Jin Kazama and Hwoarang. Ling’s fast, agile movement and ability to breezily string combos together made her a fan-favourite character to pick up and learn in past entries. After going through all previously announced characters, Bandai Namco is now dropping new character reveals for Tekken 8.

As mentioned before, it’s been less than a day since Bandai Namco released the character trailer for Jun Kazama. It’s unclear at what rate the developer plans to reveal new fighters but with Jun and Ling being so close together, we could possibly be looking at one new gameplay trailer a day from now on (and I don’t think anyone is really complaining). Ling is a welcomed but expected surprise as she’s been featured in most starting rosters in Tekken games since the third entry.
Despite the frequency of character trailers pouring in for Tekken 8 now, the game is still without a release date. Bandai Namco previously stated that it planned to launch the anticipated fighting game sometime before April 2024, though nothing has been set in stone.
Tekken 8 is being built in Unreal Engine 5 and features some impressive visual leaps including more dynamic environments and stages, more detail such as veins and sweat on character models and more explosive particle effects during battles.
Tekken 8 is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Check out the Ling Xiaoyu gameplay trailer below:
