LittleBigPlanet 3 will be permanently removed from the PlayStation Store later this month. The game’s listing will be taken down on 31 October and there won’t be any way to play the game if you don’t own it already. This means you have until 31 October to buy the game. In addition, all the DLC (there’s a lot) will also be leaving.
Keep in mind that if you already own the game and the DLC, you won’t lose access to the content. You can continue to play LittleBigPlanet 3 through ownership or if you have redeemed it through PlayStation Plus. However, no new purchases can be made after 31 October.
LittleBigPlanet 3 has offered players 10 years of service with dozens of DLC packs and user-created levels to enjoy. The game is the fifth instalment in the series following LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet (PSP) and LittleBigPlanet (PS Vita).
The game has been a target for hackers during its years on the PSN. The servers were constantly attacked by DDoS intrusions. So much so that Sony decided to turn off the servers earlier this year to prevent further issues. Sadly, this came with the loss of millions of online levels created by the community.
Fans are now speculating that Sony is working on a remaster or remake of LittleBigPlanet in some way or shape. Fans of the series claim the takedown of the game from the PlayStation Store might be the first move towards that. But this is just pure speculation right now.
LittleBigPlanet is owned by Sony and was originally created by Media Molecule. LittleBigPlanet 3, however, was developed by Sumo Digital as an outsourced project.
