If you’re looking for a Nintendo Switch 2 camera and don’t feel like spending money on Nintendo’s first-party camera, Logitech might be the best brand to shop for. According to the company, all of its webcams now work on the Switch 2 console, except for one.
Logitech says that only the Brio 4K camera won’t work when you plug it into your Switch 2 console. This is mainly because the Logitech Brio 4K is built with Windows Hello features and, as a result, has security USB descriptors that kick in when you plug it into the Switch 2.
We recently covered what these USB descriptors were and how important they were for the Switch 2 camera support. However, essentially, webcams require three features to work on the Switch 2. It must not use the HID protocol, it has to be configured for isochronous transfer mode, and it must not include unsupported low frame rate settings.
Logitech says that outside of the Brio 4K, the rest of the brand’s webcams will all work on the Switch 2. At the moment, this is the only brand to confirm widespread support for the console. Elgato is working on “updating” its camera lineup to support the console.
If you do have the Logitech Brio 4K, you can downgrade the firmware, which according to some users seems to unlock support for the Switch 2, but do this at your own risk. Someone on Reddit got it working and so far, it is seemingly a good workaround.
The best solution to all this Switch 2 camera stuff would be to have Nintendo issue a system update that loosens the USB requirements for the console. It would enable for more camera support on the Switch 2. However, at the moment brands like Logitech are seemingly the next best option for camera support.
