Loki MCU Marvel Multiverse

Loki Season 2 Will Reportedly Begin Filming This Year

Loki season 2 will reportedly begin filming later this year, according to a new casting call. The acclaimed Marvel Studios and Disney+ show managed to shake things up forever for the future of the MCU (which includes both its movies and television shows), and a second season was a given at this point.

As reported by Screen Rant, a casting call website called Backstage stated that filming on Loki season 2 will begin this summer at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom. The main cast from the first season, which includes Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Owen Wilson as Agent Mobius and Sophie Di Martino as Sylvie, are all presumed to return.

The first season of Loki may have had the largest impact on the MCU, more than any other Marvel and Disney+ show to date. We won’t touch on any spoilers, but it lays the groundwork for what several current MCU films are doing and where they’re heading in Phase 4. A second season of Loki could explore the series’ central agency, the Time Variance Authority (TVA), in a bit more detail too.

The Loki series follows the variant of the character from Avengers: Endgame, as he uses the Tesseract to escape from custody. This leads him to encounter the TVA, who are in charge of controlling the flow of time and maintaining order in the multiverse. However, things aren’t all as they seem as Loki teams up with Agent Mobius to uncover a deeper conspiracy at the agency.

Marvel’s upcoming television shows also include Moon Knight starring Oscar Isaac, Ms. Marvel (which will tie into the upcoming MCU film The Marvels), She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, Ironheart, I Am Groot, Armor Wars, Agatha: House of Darkness, an untitled series based in Wakanda, and the second season of What If…?. That’s a lot of Marvel to digest.
