Lollipop Chainsaw ‘RePOP’ Remake Delayed to Summer 2024

A remake of Lollipop Chainsaw was initially announced over a year ago in July 2022, though updates on the anticipated remake have been slow to non-existent. Now, Dragami Games has officially announced that it will be titled Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, though it won’t be coming out anytime this year as originally promised. Instead, fans can expect RePOP to release sometime in summer 2024.

Dragami Games released a statement recently confirming that Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will be delayed out of the summer 2023 window and is now scheduled to release in summer 2024. The studio says that it needs extra time in development to ensure that it’s able to deliver the “best possible quality experience” for players.

The statement provided by Dragami Games reads:

“Although development of RePOP was carried out with the intention of a 2023 release, our commitment to providing the best possible quality experience to our players led us to making the hard decision to extend the development period in order to ensure this. We sincerely apologize to all who had been waiting for the latest installment in the Lollipop Chainsaw series, and kindly ask for your understanding in this matter.”

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is a full remake of the 2012 hack-and-slash action title from Grasshopper Manufacture, though its original creator Suda51 isn’t involved in the project and neither is writer James Gunn. While it’s pretty difficult to play the game on modern consoles due to its lack of availability or backward compatibility support, fans are excited to be able to jump into a remake of the cult hit.

Unfortunately, players will have to wait another year to experience all that RePOP has to offer. Lollipop Chainsaw didn’t receive the most positive reviews at launch, though it has since developed a cult following over the years with many now praising its daring premise and absurd fun factor.
