Lords of the Fallen Release Date Leaked and Title Changed – Report

The new Lords of the Fallen (or The Lords of the Fallen, or Lords of the Fallen 2, it’s very confusing) has received a title change as well as a leaked release date. The Soulslike dark fantasy action-RPG and follow-up to 2014’s Lords of the Fallen is being developed by Hexworks and publisher CI Games. Apart from a couple of trailers, we still know very little about the game but it looks like a leak has given us an idea of when we can get our hands on it.

According to Twitter user Alumia_Italia, who is best known for digging through Microsoft’s backend for game information, the newly renamed Lords of the Fallen (dropping the “The”) will reportedly release on 13 October 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The name change might cause some confusion as the original 2014 game also carries the same name, though that seems to be a trend in gaming these days.

The Lords of the Fallen sequel originally began development almost six years ago under Defiant Games but sometime in 2020, CI Games replaced the studio with its own subsidiary developer Hexworks. If the release date leak is accurate, then we can expect to see more of the game in the coming weeks. CI Games isn’t mentioned on the list of partners for Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest so it’s possible that it will make an appearance at either the Xbox Games Showcase or rumoured PlayStation showcase.

The official description for Lords of the Fallen reads:

“After an age of the cruellest tyranny, the demon God, Adyr, was finally defeated. But Gods… do not fall forever. Now, aeons later, Adyr’s resurrection draws nigh. As one of the fabled Dark Crusaders, journey through both the realms of the living and the dead in this expansive RPG experience, featuring colossal boss battles, fast challenging combat, thrilling character encounters, and deep, immersive storytelling. Will your legend be one of light… or one of darkness?”

Lords of the Fallen is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
