Cosy Lord of the Rings adaption Tales of the Shire has been delayed into 2025. Weta Workshop was originally set to launch the Hobbit game this year but that doesn’t seem to be a reality anymore. Instead, fans looking to live the Hobbit life will have to wait until March now to do so. Tales of the Shire is now launching on 25 March for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC.
If you don’t know, Tales of the Shire is directly based on The Lord of the Rings. However, instead of players fighting orcs and destroying the One Ring, they take on the role of Hobbits in the Shire and live daily lives. As a cosy game, Tales of the Shire sees players tend to their homes, bake, craft furniture, fish and do all the things a Hobbit would do to keep the Shire a peaceful and productive community.
Weta hosted a full gameplay showcase last night detailing Tales of the Shire. The 18-minute presentation is full of new game details as well as how Middle-earth inspired the creation of the world. There’s a closer look at cooking, hosting social events, building friendships and building a community. It is all about living as a Hobbit.
Tales of the Shire seemingly features a seasonal mechanic where players will tackle the ever-changing weather and farm their produce accordingly. The Shire itself looks pretty adorable too.

Tales of the Shire is a cosy life-sim where you get to experience life in the Shire. Based upon the book series by J.R.R. Tolkien, Tales of the Shire ventures to take the path less travelled by providing a rich story with a focus on food, fellowship, and good neighbours.
