Mafia: Definitive Edition has been confirmed for Xbox Game Pass after a string of rumours surfaced earlier this week. Microsoft made the official announcement on social media that Game Pass susbcribers will be able to experience the remade Mafia title on 13 August when it hits the subscription service.
Mafia: Definitive Edition initially launched in September 2020 for PS4, Xbox One and PC, developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K Games. It’s a full remake of the original 2002 Mafia game. Set in the fictional city of Lost Heaven during the 1930s, players take on the role of Tommy Angelo, a cab driver-turned-gangster who rises up the ranks of the criminal underworld with the Salieri crime family.
The remake is powered by Mafia 3‘s game engine and features overhauled visuals, gameplay mechanics, new action sequences and tweaks over its original counterpart. For the most part, it’s still a faithful remake of the 2002 game with significantly improved graphics and gameplay.

The official description of Mafia: Definitive Edition reads:
“Part one of the Mafia crime saga – 1930s, Lost Heaven, IL. Re-made from the ground up, rise through the ranks of the Mafia during the Prohibition era of organized crime. After a run-in with the mob, cab driver Tommy Angelo is thrust into a deadly underworld. In case you missed it, Microsoft recently added Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to Xbox Game Pass. The company has yet to add a large majority of Activision-published games to the subscription service after acquiring the publisher, though we can hopefully expect more games to arrive on Game Pass in the coming months.
