The upcoming Mafia Definitive Edition will not make its planned 28 August release date. Hanger 13 announced the studio needs more time to work on the remake of the popular 2002 open-world game. Furthermore, the studio announced a new date for the official gameplay reveal.
According to to the Twitter post, while the originally-planned release date was set a while back, the current COVID-19 pandemic caused delays in development. Hanger 13 claims that the last thing they want to do is compromise on the quality of the experience. After the disastrous Mafia II: Definitive Edition release that was riddled in bugs and performance issues, the delay is a breath of fresh air.

As you know, the upcoming release is no simple remaster. Instead, the game is a complete remake built from the ground up. The game features a brand-new engine, textures, models, lighting and much more. Just from the few screenshots revealed last month, it is looking fantastic. However, we will have to see what happens when the game launches on 25 September 2020.
Luckily, Hanger 13 won’t make us wait until September to see the game. The developer announced the full gameplay reveal for the game will take place on 22 July. That is just two weeks away. Mafia Definitive Edition launches on 25 September 2020 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Keep in mind that if you have already purchased one or two games in the latest trilogy, you will get a discount when buying this upcoming release.
