2K Games has announced and released the Mafia Trilogy. After weeks of teasers and the game even leaking early on the Australian PlayStation Store, users can now officially purchase Mafia Trilogy on PS4, Xbox One or PC. However, it gets a little complicated.

Mafia Trilogy will be a complete package but for now, it only has two of the three games. This is because the original game is being remade from the ground up and is only releasing on 28 August 2020. As for Mafia III Definitive Edition, it contains some new features and all the DLC. In addition, Mafia II Definitive Edition is an ultra-HD remaster of the original game.
Anyone that purchases the trilogy before 28 August 2020 will be able to access the second and third game straight away. In addition, as soon as the original remake is available, players will be able to download the game.
Users can also purchase the games separately if they wish. Doing so will unlock special discounts when purchasing the rest of the games in the collection too. However, the best news of all is that if you own Mafia II or Mafia III already on PS4, Xbox One or PC, you will be upgraded to the Definitive Edition for free.
Sony gave away the third game as part of the PlayStation Plus lineup in 2019 so if you added it to your library, you will be able to download the DLC pack for no charge at all. The same goes for Xbox One and Steam. After you have downloaded the free upgraded versions of your games, 2K Games will offer a special reduced-price purchase for those who upgrade their trilogy to the complete collection. However, if you don’t own any of the games, you can buy the trilogy for R999.
2K Games also plans on releasing a physical copy of the collection on 28 August 2020 when the original remake releases.
